Membership
The Canadian Council of Natural Mothers was founded in 2000 and is an
active source of progressive online support with access, in some areas,
to affiliated peer support groups. We have actively participated in unsealing
adoption records in Alberta (2004) and Ontario
(2007).
- Membership in the CCNM is
open to those who support the initiatives voiced above; respect the
conditions outlined in the Mothers Bill of Rights;
the rights of people separated by adoption to have unfettered access
to the information in adoption records about themselves and the adoptive
name of their daughter or son, and/or natural parents; and supports
the philosophy of keeping families together as a first priority. You
may join us if you are:
- a mother who has lost
a child or children to adoption
- a father who has lost
a child or children to adoption
- a person adopted or
a person who grew up in foster care
- a natural relative
in the second circle which includes natural siblings, natural grandparents,
natural aunts and uncles
- a proven advocate in
support of the CCNM initiatives
- The CCNM is not an organization
for people who advocate for and promote future adoptions.
- Membership files are kept
confidential.
- There is no membership fee
but a small donation would be welcomed to help pay the costs of office
supplies and postage, etc.
- We have an online CCNM members'
email forum, for those interested.
We support the philosophy of
family preservation and our practices support this philosophy.
